Nikol has two faces. The older belt around Nikol Gam Road urbanised through the late nineties and 2000s as east Ahmedabad's affordable-housing engine — four-to-seven-floor lift blocks like Abhilasha Sky and Bhojaldham Residency, built by local developers, with low parapets and the welded window grills of that era. That buyer is Nikol's story. Young nuclear families trade up from denser inner-east pockets like Bapunagar, buy a 1 or 2 BHK, and find themselves on an eighth-floor balcony with a toddler for the first time in their family's history. Balcony safety is usually the first thing they fix after possession — before the sofa, in many homes.

The other local reality is dust. SP Ring Road traffic plus the Odhav and Kathwada industrial estates next door put a real grime load on east-facing balconies.
