Chandkheda is a two-layer suburb. The old core grew around the ONGC colony and the Gujarat Housing Board township — thousands of low-rise homes — plus society rows from when this was its own panchayat (it merged into the municipal corporation in 2008). The new layer runs along New CG Road, the 100-foot spine that doubles as north Ahmedabad's shopping district: thirteen-floor towers like Pure by Sangath IPL, high-rise launches like Kautilya One 54, and a steady pipeline of 3 BHK projects.

What changed everything is the metro. The Vishwakarma College and Tapovan Circle stations sit inside the locality, and with the line running through to Gandhinagar and the GIFT City spur open, Chandkheda became the value address for dual-income families working the capital corridor — ONGC and government staff by tradition, finance and tech commuters by the trainload now.

The value equation is the draw: bigger homes at rates well under the west side, which is how young families end up on tenth-floor balconies with small children. Towers facing the Visat–Gandhinagar highway carry real traffic dust; east-facing flats trade that for Sabarmati breeze. Crews here work both layers in the same week: full balcony cable systems in the New CG Road towers, and window retrofits on Housing Board and society-row homes whose original grilles have rusted through.
