Kandivali East is the township side. Thakur Village and Thakur Complex off Samta Nagar Road pack around fifty thousand people into two square kilometres of 1990s–2010s towers — Evershine Millennium Paradise, Ekta Meadows, Kanakia Challengers, Thakur Jewel, Oberoi Parkview — overlooking the Sanjay Gandhi National Park to the east. Lokhandwala Township on Akurli Road adds Whispering Palms and seventy-odd new projects between the Western Express Highway and the forest. Residents are young professionals and families around Thakur College and Ryan International, with a large rental layer alongside the owners.

Kandivali West is layered. Mahavir Nagar is the established family belt around Khau Gali, now getting Sheth Edmont Aurelia's fifty-one floors, Vora Skyline's thirty-nine and Westcenter's forty-six on Link Road. Charkop is the MHADA sector layout — Sectors 1 to 8, RSC and RDP roads, ground-plus-three co-ops like Anand CHS and Sun Sea CHS — now going through self-redevelopment into seven-to-twelve-floor buildings with commencement certificates in hand. Beyond it the Charkop creek, its mangroves and the Bunder Pakhadi fishing village mark the western edge.

The local conditions are documented rather than assumed. Kandivali West made the news as a pigeon-lung case study — a resident diagnosed with hypersensitivity pneumonitis from droppings around the building — and city chest physicians report a fivefold rise in the disease. The Poisar river splits at Dahanukar Wadi and backs up into homes in heavy rain. Charkop and Link Road get humid, salt-tinged creek air; Thakur Village gets forest-edge wind and bird pressure on upper floors.
